Extra special thanks to all those who have been there since the
very beginning and also those we have found along the way.
All tracks programmed
in Chaos 09/96 - 01/98 Additional programming at Station Q 04-05/98
Recorded, mixed and mastered @ Station Q 04-05/98 Produced by LQ
and Erik This recording was made using analog synthesis as well
as digital. Certain pops and hiss may be noticeable. The 'Corrupt.Condemn.Crush'
sessions were initially like a breath of fresh air. Sharing production
with LQ of Angry White Mob, the scope had the potential to be widened
and to really let Scrape move into uncharted regions. The sound
that resulted (the whole thing was recorded at his home studio),
while being very clean and sharp, also lacked the very essence of
what Scrape was---noise. This is not to say that all the album is
without merit.
Many have compared it to minimalist
bands such as Klinik. The sound for this release was very compressed
and pushed the envelope of loudness (check out that kick drum!).
Songs such as 'Languish' (a personal favourite) are still in the
Scrape live set but the sound as a whole left something to be desired
by some. The artwork was done very expertly by Rafael Maliba (who
later became my sound engineer and is now basically a member). Initially
the front cover was blue, but all parties felt that it should be
more fiery and harsh so the cover took on a more yellow/orange cast.
The actual image is
my own dental x-ray scanned in and manipulated by Rafael. Some people
have seen all sorts of images in there (an unnamed person saw what
seemed to be two people having sexual intercourse-->I still don't
see that in there but hey, to each their own). One of the unreleased
songs was a piece called 'Disregarded Agony'. It was sung by 1-k
but didn't make the album because it didn't fit in with the rest
of the songs. If anyone wants to hear this, email me and i'll talk
it over with 1-k and perhaps we'll make it available.
