Consciousness Razing'
was the first release without 1-k. This allowed for a more unrestrained
sound and also for a more free moving imagination. The whole album
was recorded at Scrape HQ (called Chaos) with Rafael Maliba (as
sound engineer). Learning from the past mistakes with the 'Corrupt.Condemn.Crush'
sessions, I decided to produce the album myself (I even did all
the artwork for the first time). This also marked a move toward
more complex song structures and club friendly beats.
Noise was not fully
abandoned as songs such as 'Racket' can attest but in many of the
songs, noise was an element that was molded and shaped to work with
the other elements and was not always the primary driving force
in many songs. I feel that this is the album that was in me needing
to get out from the very beginning of Scrape. Many factors such
as lack of skill, band member problems, as well as an environment
that was not enabling me to really move forward all played a part
in that not happening sooner.
Now the test will be
to continue to expand and build on that initial vision and see what
I can do with it.
